Delhi is the hub of arts, entertainment and even as home to several famous celebrities. As a land of illustrious personalities, it’s not hard to spot some of the Bollywood celebrities residing in the city’s posh residential areas or inaugurating expensive brands. There are, in fact, a hoard of celebrities we bet you didn’t know who hail from ‘saadi dilli’!
As a common practice of comparing Bollywood hub Mumbai with the elite club of Delhi, it’s interesting to note that some of the famous theatre artists hail from here. With entertainment complexes like the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurugram, Delhi isn’t now lagging behind the entertainment world.

1. Sonam Kapoor – married Delhi businessman Anand Ahuja
Style icon and bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor married her long time beau Anand Ahuja, in a star studded wedding on May 8. She married her millionaire businessman husband who belongs to Delhi and is the MD of his family business of ‘Shahi Exports’. Anand Ahuja owns a house in Golf Links. Sonam Kapoor’s husband grew up in South Delhi’s well known neighbourhood of Jor Bagh, which is close to where bureaucrats and politicians reside.
2. Anushka Sharma – married Delhi boy Virat Kohli
Their’s was one of the most watched and trending weddings in 2017 when Anushka Sharma married famous Indian cricket captain and Delhi resident, Virat Kohli. The Delhi boy isn’t shy of expressing his love and their union was famously called Virushka on social media. Though the couple live in Mumbai’s posh Worli district in a 34 crore flat, in Delhi, Anushka Sharma’s husband has a house in Meea Bagh, a West Delhi locality.
3. Karishma Kapoor – married Delhi entrepreneur Sanjay Kapur
Once hailed as the Bachchan family’s Bahu (she was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan for sometime),Karisma Kapoor walked down the isle with her childhood friend and Delhi-based industrialist, Sanjay Kapur, in 2003. Though it was her first marriage, Sanjay was earlier married to fashion stylist Nandita Mehtani. Karishma shuffled between Delhi and Mumbai during her marriage with Sanjay.
4. Diya Mirza – married Delhi industrialist Salil Sangha
Diya Mirza‘s husband Salil Sangha belongs to Delhi. Even Diya isn’t new to the capital. She visited when she won the coveted title of Miss Asia Pacific in 2000 and later when she shot few scenes for her debut film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein in 2001. Though the couple reside in Mumbai, they also come often to Delhi for other professional commitments.
5. Asin – married Delhi businessman Rahul Sharma
South India’s popular actress Asin married Delhi based Rahul Sharma in 2016. Asin’s husband is a multi millionaire who is the co-founder and MD of Micromax Company. The couple met through Akshay Kumar, another Delhi born Bollywood celebrity.
6. Shahid Kapoor – married Delhi girl Mira Rajput
One of the most eligible Bollywood actors marrying a simple Delhi girl came as a surprise to many. It’s a well known fact that Shahid Kapoor hails from Delhi and met his wife Mira Rajput during a communal prayer meet when he was in town. Mira Kapoor’s husband was not only born in this city, but stayed here till the age of ten with his maternal grandparents before shifting. Mira completed her schooling from Delhi’s Vasant Valley school.
7. Sunidhi Chauhan – was born in Delhi
Here’s one star which makes Delhi a reason to be proud of. The leading vocal lady of Bollywood, Sunidhi Chauan, is a pure Delhiite in every sense! Not only is she born in Delhi but also completed her schooling from the Greenway Modern School. Sunidhi Chauhan resided in Dilshad Garden. Another export of Delhi who made it big in Mumbai.
8. Shabana Azmi – did theatre in Delhi
One of the famous theatre personalities to hail from Delhi is none other than Javed Akhtar’s wife Shabana Azmi. The Delhi celebrity is a successful actress of the yesteryear in her own right and was raised in the capital for sometime. The 66-year-old actress has also praised the city’s Metro services during recent travels anddid theatre classes in her hey days in Delhi.
9. Soha Ali Khan – was born in Delhi
This Pataudi spent most of her growing up years in Delhi. and to Soha Ali Khan, both Delhi and Mumbai are equally home. She spent her teenage years from six to seventeen and used to stay in their old house, opposite Sena Bhawan which is very close to Rashtrapati Bhawan.
10. Bipasha Basu – married Delhi boy Karan Singh Grover
The 39 year old bong Bipasha Basu is often seen in the capital to visit her in-laws. She married hunk Karan Singh Grover in a fairy tale wedding and they constantly post snaps on social media. Not only Karan, but even Bipasha was born in Delhi before being raised in Kolkata. Bipasha’s husband belong to a Punjabi Sikh family and their marriage took place in a gurudwara as per Sikh customs.
