Cricket is a religion in India. There is hardly any other sport that is given equal importance in our nation. Indian cricketers become world famous while the players of other sports hardly become a name in their own nation. Many times, this makes the players envy cricketers and something similar happened with snooker champion, Pankaj Advani.

Pankaj Advani has never become a part of controversial headlines, he generally does his job in a silent manner and makes heads turn only when he wins a snooker championship. But this time, he is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Pankaj Advani has taken a potshot at the Indian cricketers and people are not really happy about it.

We remember the iconic ICC Champions Trophy final match between India and Pakistan. The Indian cricket team tasted an embarrassing defeat. However, when the Indian women’s cricket team defeated the Pakistani women cricketers in the Women’s World Cup, India celebrated.
Recently, Pankaj Advani beat Pakistan in the Asian Snooker Championship and came out as a winner. Pankaj couldn’t digest this win silently and posted a tweet taking a sly dig at the Indian cricketers. Pankaj’s tweet was a taunt on the Indian cricket team’s defeat to Team Pakistan.
Here’s what Pankaj posted,
We r not demigods, we r not cricketers.. We r the Asian Team Snooker Champions 2017

However, Pankaj’s tweet could only gather negative attention. People grilled Pankaj with harsh tweets. Here are some of the reactions that Pankaj’s tweet got.
Congratulations! But what take a dig at cricketers? They’re your fellow sportsmen and represent India the same way you do.

Taking a dig because cue sports and @PankajAdvani247 do not get the recognition and rewards for representing the country..

Agree. Take a dig at the authorities. Also we are to be blamed equally. We create demigods out of b’wood n cricketers. Why blame them?

Not cricketers’ fault if they are loved & worshiped! They represent India only. Stop taunting them at everything ok? Congratulations thou

A mystery how people who call themselves sport lovers demean one game to praise another! Learn to respect people who make the nation proud!
