20-year-old Lauren from San Diego, faced a traumatizing phase in her life last year when she lost her arm in a moped accident.

Recalling her accident, she said,

I was going pretty fast on a moped and lost control of it, and I hit the median in the road. I flew off and hit a sign and it sliced my arm off. I stayed conscious the whole time.

It was her luck that a police officer who had just received tourniquet training was present at the place where her accident took place. Lauren was in shock and she thought she won’t survive.

I remember I asked the cop, ‘Hey, am I gonna die?’ and he said, ‘No, you’ll be fine.

It was social media that helped her cope with this phase and get back to a normal life.

During the initial days, jokes used to irritate her but gradually Lauren herself started telling jokes and laughed out all her sorrows.

For a while, I wasn’t okay with the jokes. But then I started telling the jokes, and it’s kind of helped.

Since the accident, Lauren shares more and more of her pictures on the internet.

I have never really hid it. People don’t see that very often, so a lot of people DM me to tell me it’s really helpful to them, people who are also missing limbs or are disabled.

And Lauren stormed the internet when she wrote a Tinder bio. People started taking screenshots of it and it soon went viral. Here’s what this cool woman wrote,

To address the elephant in the room that I was missing a limb.

And from where this idea came to her? (alcohol) 😛

I got home pretty drunk, and I don’t remember typing it up really. I just woke up to someone DM’ing me a Reddit post asking if it was me, and I was like damn, I guess it is.

People are going crazy about Lauren and the only thing they want to do after reading her Tinder bio is swipe right.

However, many feel that they should not laugh at it. But Lauren is completely fine about it. This woman is not interested in sympathy.

People always respond like, ‘Oh, I feel bad for laughing and I’m like, ‘No! I think it’s funny…I made it!’

Lauren’s spirit towards life deserves a salute. Laughter is the best medicine. You can get over even the most terrible thing if you don’t forget to smile. Lauren is an inspiration for us to live a better life.
