Every now and then, controversy about something or the other takes center-stage in India and this time its about Khichdi. Food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur has made an announcement that this week, Khichdi will be upgraded to ‘Brand India Food’. She has also said that it won’t be termed as India’s national dish but it should ideally be. Khichdi, a mishmash of rice and pulses, is an ancient Indian food known for being light on the abdomen. It is hence mostly regarded as babyfood or a good diet for sick persons.

Another controversy broiling in the country at the moment is over singing or not singing national song ‘Vande Mataram’. BJP has been pressing for making singing of Vande Mataram and National Anthem compulsory in all schools of the country.

BJP spokesperson Navin Kumar Singh. OneIndia
Recently, BJP spokesperson Navin Kumar Singh landed in a major goof-up as he made multiple blunders in singing the national song on national television. During an debate on the debate held on television channel Zee Salaam, Navin Kumar, when challenged by Mufti Ejaz Arshad Qasmi of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, sang his own version of Vande Mataram despite taking help from his mobile phone.
Catch a glimpse of Navin Kumar’s version of Vande Mataram in the video below:

Mrs. Funnybones aka Twinkle Khanna also took a dig at the goof-up by Navin Kumar but as we know what a queen of words she is, she also dragged food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur’s intent of making Khichdi the national food in her tweet. Here is what she posted:
