The super fast, unreserved train was announced by former railway minister Suresh Prabhu last year in December. In his speech, Suresh Prabhu had said:
“Antyodaya Express will be a long-distance, fully unreserved, superfast train service, for the common man to be operated on dense routes.”

The railway minister had also said that the coaches of the Antyodaya Express will be far more comfortable compared to the normal sleeper coaches and will also boast of amenities like toilet occupation indication display boards, bio-toilets, fire extinguishers with anti-theft arrangement and enhanced capacity dustbins apart from the amenities already mentioned.

In fact, according to an article by the Financial Express, sources in the Railway Ministry had revealed that the toilets in these trains will be much akin to the ones found in the AC 1st class coaches of the Rajdhani Expresses. A source was quoted saying:
“The toilets in Antyodaya Express will be modular just like those in the AC-1st class coach of Rajdhani Express.”
